Here at Welsh Back we have a range of qualified massage therapists offering various services. Here’s a quick overview of what’s on offer and who can provide it. DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE: Sian Osborne, Sally Martin, Chris Nix and Vicky Cook For those who enjoy a deeper massage than the Holistic Massages, but need not be as specific as a Sports Massage. A Deep Tissue massage can be performed either as a neck, back and shoulders massage or a full body massage. Expect to be relieved of tension in primary areas, using deep strokes, helping to realign the deeper connective tissues of the body. Specific ‘problem areas’ can be highlighted and referred to a Sports Massage Therapist for more localised treatment. At some points throughout the massage it is perfectly normal to experience some discomfort or pain, talk the therapist through what you are feeling to ensure a complete treatment. SPORTS MASSAGE: Sian Osborne, Sally Martin, Chris Nix and Vicky Cook Sports Massage Therapy techniques can be used to aid, prevent and cure all types of muscular dysfunction. While the title suggests a focus on working within sport, it is true to say an emphasis is on the more active client, but anyone who is suffering a condition that limits what they can do will benefit. Sports Massage is more thorough than a Deep Tissue Massage, working on specific areas by stretching, relaxing and breaking down scar tissue in the soft tissue (muscles, ligaments and tendons) of the body. It can be used to alleviate pain in the body, whether caused by injury, poor posture or simply stress, but should not be overlooked as an injury prevention tool – eliminating problems before they become apparent. HOLISTIC MASSAGE: Chris Nix Holistic, meaning ‘whole’ is a deeply relaxing massage to ease tension and relieve stress in the mind and body. The aim is to rebalance the body to achieve homeostasis or balance. It is rare that we take time to just lie down, close our eyes, and just ‘be’. An hour’s peace and quiet away from ringing phones, demanding children and tough days at work has a significant restorative effect on the body. INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE: Chris Nix Originating from Indian traditional grooming techniques, where mothers taught here daughters to massage oils into the scalp to keep the hair rich and strong. An Indian Head Massage is performed through the clothes, to the head, neck, shoulders, upper back and upper arms. This type of massage is a stress management therapy as work on these upper body areas can relieve the whole body. DEEP TISSUE DETOX MASSAGE: Vicky Cook When we have bombarded our systems with too much food, alcohol, sugar, been burning the candle at both ends or exposing ourselves to lots of air and water pollutants, our natural lymphatic system can become overloaded. This massage manually stimulates the lymphatic system to help drain fluids from the soft tissues. The detox process is aided further by using essential oils, which enter the body through the pores in our skin. “LITTLE BLACK DRESS” ABDOMINAL MASSAGE AND WRAP: Vicky Cook Loose up to 6” with this colon massage. By removing obstructions and encouraging peristalsis waves in the colon, we can aid a better digestive system, remove stagnant waste, break down fat deposits, reduce ‘orange peel effect’ as well as many other benefits. |
